The 9’6” x 31″ GO Surf was designed for lighter riders and especially for women up to 95kg, offering a board that’s lighter to carry, has good glide and stability, and yet is totally nimble and responsive to turn in the waves.
The design of this model drew reference on other much loved Starboard designs, scaling down an Avanti outline, as well as using the rails and bottom shape of the popular Wedge range.
At 31” wide, the outline and flat deck gives solid stability to paddle at ease, yet the pulled in tail and thin rails make it very responsive to manoeuvre through turns.
The length gets into waves early and is fast to paddle back out to the sets, while still agile to swing the nose around in classic longboard style. For those looking for a board that can cruise, surf and is easy to transport, the GO Surf ticks all those boxes.
BOARD FEATURES
DESIGNED FOR SURF AND CRUISE
The rounded nose outline is fairly full to give a combination of stability and good nose riding performance. The round tail has enough area to balance the glide on flats and yet is still responsive when stepping back to turn.
THE FLAT DECK
The flat deck utlises the full width of the board, giving you a very stable standing area for when its choppy. This flat deck makes the board feel like a wider board in stability.
ROCKER
Offers you good paddle speed for cruising, yet has enough kick in the nose to prevent nose diving, and a moderate tail kick to lift the nose through turns. The nose riding performance of the Go Surf really surprised us, feeling super stable so you can ride toes on the nose.
THE RAIL
• The rail thickness is fuller in the mid-section to provide float and cruising speed.
• The rails are taken from the popular Wedge range and require less pressure to engage on the wave face.
THINNER NOSE AND TAIL
The nose and tail have thinner rails to reduce both the swing weight through turns and to give you more bite to engage the rail through turns.
BOTTOM SHAPE
Has a vee throughout for easy to rail to rail transitions, and turning the board from the mid point.
BUNGEE INSERT
On the nose allow you to store gear when cruising. The bungee rope can be removed when surfing to freely ride the nose.
(Only with Lite Tech and Limited Series)
5 FIN OPTION
Offers good drive and hold through turns, while the quad offers more release and speed. Recommended to switch to a single larger fin for flat-water paddling. 170 center fin and 4.7” side fins are supplied with the board.
2-IN-1 SHOULDER CARRY STRAP AND PADDLE HOLDER
• Velcro loop to attach your paddle.
• Easier to carry as the board simply hangs effortlessly on the shoulder and free up your hand to multi-task, hold your coffee, or phone.
• When not in use, the bungee sits flat on the board so it doesn’t drag in the water.
(Comes with the Blue Carbon and can be purchased aftermarket for Lite Tech and Limited Series.)
BOARD CONSTRUCTIONS
BLUE CARBON
THE BEST VALUE FULL CARBON CONSTRUCTION WE HAVE EVER PRODUCED
Top grade 150g Biaxial Carbon wraps the entire board, joining with an overlap on the deck and bottom to create flat stringer, increasing the total breakage strength.
2 skins of durable fibre glass form a sandwich around the biaxial Carbon, protecting the carbon by dampening and absorbing the impact.
The combination of twin T-stringers deck and bottom work together to increase the overall total breakage strength.
Multiple reinforcements in the standing area, nose and tail increase impact resistance.
Twin T-stringers made from glass fibre are positioned on the deck and bottom of the board close to the rail, providing a massive increase in the overall strength against total breakage in surf.
An additional wide layer of 200g glass wraps the rails for higher strength against paddle impact and further reinforces the overall strength against buckling.
The deck features reinforced biaxial glass and Australian pine, to resist heel dents and impact from the standing area.
The nose and tail are wrapped in multiple layers of glass fiber for further strength on these impact zones.
For every board sold, Starboard plants 3 mangrove trees with Worldview International Foundation. Each Mighty Mangrove sinks down 673kg of VCS certified CO2 during its first 25 years.
Together, our 3 mangroves offset the boards Carbon Emissions 10 X over and fund local livelihoods projects in Myanmar.
The GO Surf has an average carbon footprint of 120 kg per board.
Buy a board and we pick up 1.1 kg of beach/ ocean plastic trash – equivalent to the amount of plastic trash entering the ocean, per person, per year. Starboard balances this amount for our customers.
The GO Surf has an average plastic content of 10.5 kg per board.
